What You'll Learn:
River Reading Skills: Understanding river flow, currents, and eddies. Identifying hazards and safe paddling routes. Basic navigation skills for river environments.
Safety and Rescue: Essential safety gear and its proper use. Self-rescue techniques and assisting others. Environmental awareness and respecting river ecosystems.
Course Structure:
On-Land Instruction: Equipment overview, including board selection and paddle types. Safety briefing and basic river hydrology.
On-Water Practice: Hands-on practice with guidance from experienced instructors. Drills to build confidence and improve technique. Group paddling to reinforce learning and foster teamwork.

What to Bring: Rain coat or shell if it's a cold day shoes that you can wear in the river, sunscreen, and sunglasses with a retainer. A positive attitude and readiness to learn!
Location: Depending size of group, water level and previous paddling experience, the class might be on the Columbia river or on the Illecillewaet River.
